Description

When the British established this garden in the 1900s it was originally known as Tshering Bagan. It was later re-named Risheehat meaning the home of the holy sages. (Rishi=Sage; Hat=Home). Situated at an altitude of between 2500 ft. to 4800ft, Risheehat is one of the highest plantations in Darjeeling. The unique aspect of the First Flush from the Risheehat estate is its light fermentation which acquires yellowish green leaves when brewed. The withering process of this tea involves gradually desiccating of moisture from the fresh tea leaves. The main objective being fermentation under dehydration stress. The Risheehat tea then attains a very strong floral flavour yet very green.
